About TEDxPotomac
TEDxPotomac is an educational event licensed by TED.com. Following its example, we are seeking to improve the world through the power of great ideas.
We are specifically looking to involve presenters, sponsors, and participants that are representative of myriad other industries that DC leads, such as biotech, space, public health, international development, information technology, education, architecture, and more. We welcome the opportunity to work with institutions that exist to advance education and research.
There is no political agenda, and no company or product will be promoted.
The Theme
TED started more than 25 years ago as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, and Design. Since then, its scope has broadened to include thinkers, doers, creators, and visionaries from all walks of life.
Our program will build on that foundation. True to our theme of “Beyond Politics: Innovation, Inspiration, and Insight,” we will highlight diverse, thought-provoking presenters from the DC region who energize, entertain, and enlighten.
The Organizers
TEDxPotomac is entirely volunteer-organized and no party is benefitting financially from the event. Those leading working groups to organize the event include:
- Patrick Smith, Lead Organizer
- Pamela Garlich, Venues
- Stephanie Hay, Website and Marketing
- Michelle Hoffman, Curator
- Ericka Hines, Day-Of & Volunteer Coordination
- Meghan Keener – Creative Direction & Set Design
